OUR STORY
How Pendulo came to be
Pendulo opened on Phra Sumen Road in the old Phra Nakhon quarter of Bangkok — a part of the city that has always kept its own unhurried tempo. The name refers to a pendulum at rest: the moment of balance between one swing and the next, which is, in a way, what every service we carry out is reaching toward.
The atelier was established by craftspeople who had spent years observing how timepieces were handled in a city that moves quickly. The conclusion was simple: most watches that need help are not broken — they are just waiting for someone to listen to them carefully. That observation shaped everything that followed.
We work with mechanical watches of all periods. Our particular interest is in inherited and long-held pieces — watches that carry a history their owners want preserved. We do not believe in cosmetic shortcuts, and we do not rush a service because a schedule demands it.
OUR MISSION
What we are here to do
A timepiece that has been worn, gifted, or handed down is not simply a device that measures hours. It holds a particular kind of meaning that repair work either respects or dismisses. At Pendulo, we believe our role is to support the former.
That means evaluating before touching, documenting as we go, sourcing parts that suit the piece rather than the convenience of the moment, and returning each watch in a condition that matches or improves upon what was discussed at the outset.
"We take time with watches so that watches can take care of time."
THE PEOPLE
Who works here
Khun Prawit
HEAD WATCHMAKER
Trained in Switzerland and with over two decades working on mechanical movements, Prawit leads all service assessments and oversees each overhaul from start to return.
Nattawan
CASE & DIAL SPECIALIST
Nattawan handles all case refinishing, crystal work, and dial assessments. Her approach is careful and restrained — she works to preserve original character rather than impose a polished newness.
Aroon Suphan
CLIENT LIAISON
Aroon manages client communication, coordinates assessment notes, and ensures every owner knows exactly where their watch stands throughout the process. He is usually the first voice you hear when you call.
HOW WE WORK
Our Standards
The practices we follow on every service, regardless of the watch type or service tier.
Pre-Work Documentation
Every watch is photographed and described in writing before any work begins. This record belongs to the client and travels with the piece.
Calibrated Lubricants
We use only manufacturer-specified or period-appropriate lubricants. The correct viscosity in the right place is a core part of a lasting service.
Regulated to Specification
All timed movements are measured and regulated on an electronic timing machine before return. Results are recorded on the condition note.
Resistance Checked
Gaskets and seals are reviewed on every service. For water-resistant pieces, pressure testing is conducted as part of the case closure process.
Original Character Respected
We do not over-polish. Case lines, dial patina, and surface texture are assessed and any polishing discussed and agreed with the owner first.
Secure Storage
All watches in the workshop are stored in locked, individually labelled drawers. We maintain workshop insurance and a full intake log for each piece.
EXPERTISE & APPROACH
A workshop shaped by craft, not speed
Watch repair in Bangkok covers a wide range of quality and approach. At one end, there are fast-turnaround shops that replace components rather than service them. At the other, there are independent ateliers whose work is shaped by the kind of patience that precision mechanics actually require. Pendulo sits firmly in the latter category.
Mechanical watchmaking demands that the person working on a movement understand not just how it functions now, but how it was designed to function — and how age, wear, and environment have changed it. That understanding comes from time spent with many different calibres, from studying service records, and from developing the manual sensitivity that no shortcut can replicate.
We are particularly experienced with Swiss movements from the mid-twentieth century onward, and with Japanese automatics from a similar period. We also work with contemporary pieces requiring regulation, and with pocket watches that have been in families for generations. Each category has its own rhythms and requirements.
Our location on Phra Sumen Road — in a Bangkok neighbourhood that still carries the texture of an older city — shapes the character of the work we do. We are not a mall outlet or a brand-tied service centre. We are an independent atelier, and the work we produce reflects that independence.
